What We Collect
Fresh News uses two analytics services to collect anonymized usage data including page views, scroll depth, and click events on outlets and articles. This helps us understand how the site is used and improve the experience. No personal information such as names, email addresses, or IP addresses is collected or stored by Fresh News.
- Google Analytics — a third-party service provided by Google.
- Matomo — a self-hosted, open-source analytics platform running on our own infrastructure at
analytics.ideawarehouse.ca. Because Matomo is self-hosted, your analytics data never leaves our servers and is not shared with any third party.
Cookies
Fresh News does not set any first-party tracking cookies. Google Analytics may set its own cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to distinguish unique visitors. These are managed by Google and are not used by Fresh News to identify individual users. Matomo may set cookies (_pk_id.*, _pk_ses.*) to distinguish unique visitors; these are stored on our self-hosted infrastructure and are not shared with third parties.
Third Parties
We do not sell, share, or transfer any data to third parties beyond what is processed by Google Analytics. Matomo data is self-hosted and remains entirely under our control. You can learn more about how Google handles data in their Privacy Policy.
